The proofreader corrects and ensures consistency of spelling (British or American English, depending on which is specified above in the Format section), grammar and punctuation, and the format of sub-headings, bibliographical references, tables, figures, etc.

If no style guide is supplied we correct references to the style that is prevalent in the document and to ensure continuity. We do not reduce documents to within the word limit and we do not revise the format of references in a document, for example, from in-text citations to footnote references or numbered references.

Your document is proofread using the ‘track changes’ function of Microsoft Word. This is a standard function installed in most versions of Microsoft Word. This function allows you to move easily between changes and accept any or all of the modifications proposed by the proofreader. Corrections, suggestions and comments are shown in the right-hand margin and are easy to accept into your document.

When we have finished proofreading we will return two files to you: a tracked version and a clean version of your proofread document. The tracked version is named yourfilename_tracked_version and the clean version is named yourfilename_clean_version. Using our previous example these would be: Andre_Carpenter_02072024_tracked_version and Andre_Carpenter_02072024_clean_version.

Medical research and writing tend to be extremely time sensitive. New results and implications must be disseminated quickly and accurately to the many readers who need the information to save lives, improve practices and contribute to future discoveries. Publication delays are therefore unacceptable for groundbreaking medical research, and the best way for an author to ensure the efficient peer-reviewed publication of that research is to submit an excellent manuscript to the target journal or press. Proof-Reading-Service.com offers the highest-quality medical proofreading services to help doctors, professors and other medical researchers and healthcare practitioners prepare their writing for success.

Why Is Expert Medical Editing So Important for Successful Publication?
Reporting advanced medical research is a complicated matter, and a professional medical editor with the right experience and credentials can help in a number of ways. The research itself is usually complex and sometimes difficult to explain, yet it must be communicated with absolute clarity and precision in written language that is not only correct and informative, but also appropriate for the audience, which can be surprisingly wide and varied for medical research. Ineffective writing and the language problems that generally contribute to it are among the primary reasons why scientific research manuscripts are rejected by journals and presses. They are also among the primary reasons why doctors and other medical researchers seek expert medical proofreading services to correct grammar, spelling, punctuation and typing errors, clarify intended meaning and generally raise the standard of writing in their medical documents. Professional scientific editing also establishes stylistic and structural consistency throughout a research document in keeping with publisher guidelines or author preferences for formatting, references and many other details. A well-educated medical editor who specialises in the same field as the author can even help with challenging revisions if a peer reviewer or acquisitions editor requests changes before a manuscript can be published.

Why Choose Proof-Reading-Service.com Medical Editing Services?
Our large international clientele would no doubt say that the expertise and professionalism of our medical proofreaders are the most compelling of reasons for choosing our medical proofreading services. All of our medical proofreaders are native speakers of English who hold postgraduate degrees, and many have earned an MD or PhD, so they have extensive experience conducting, reporting, editing and publishing their own research. They are familiar with the procedures and terminology associated with medical research as well as the high standards and detailed instructions of the peer-reviewed journals and presses that publish medical writing. Before joining our medical proofreading team, they receive rigorous training in the best proofreading techniques, and the work of junior members is regularly monitored by our senior medical proofreaders to ensure the highest-quality medical proofreading services for every manuscript. All of our proofreaders are keenly aware of the need for security and confidentiality when working with unpublished research documents and will always keep the personal information and intellectual property of our clients completely private. Our medical proofreading services are also extremely affordable and cost-effective. The price for editing a manuscript is determined in advance based on the word count of the document and will not increase even if the writing requires far more extensive proofreading than we anticipated. Expert medical editing for a journal article or other short paper is therefore far from expensive. In fact, when one considers the cost in wasted time and opportunities when publication is delayed by the need for revisions or a submission is rejected by a journal or press, spending a little on the expertise and experience of a Proof-Reading-Service.com medical editor constitutes a wise investment. We also guarantee customer satisfaction at Proof-Reading-Service.com. Each client sets the deadline for when the edited version of the manuscript he or she submits for medical editing is required, and we always provide the completed work by that deadline. We encourage our clients to let us know at once if they are ever dissatisfied with any aspect of our medical proofreading services so that we can resolve the problems and have their writing re-edited immediately to their complete satisfaction.

Exactly What Will I Receive from a Proof-Reading-Service.com Medical Editor?
Our professional proofreading services are extremely thorough and detailed, so the medical editor we select for each client’s manuscript will:

  • Correct all errors in typing, grammar, punctuation and spelling to ensure that the author’s research data, arguments and recommendations are communicated clearly and accurately.
  • Establish consistency as required in stylistic and structural elements across every line, sentence and section of the document.
  • Adjust references, in-text citations, headings, subheadings, tables, figures, formatting, layout and more to meet the specific requirements of the author’s target journal or press.

Our expert medical editing process also offers our clients:

  • Explanations for why our medical editor has made certain changes to the manuscript, especially if extensive or complex changes have been necessary and the reasons for them may not be entirely obvious to the author.
  • Constructive suggestions for additional changes that may not be necessary to correct errors, but could be made by the author in order to improve the writing style or tone, sentence structure or phrasing, organisation or argument, or any other aspect of the document further.

As a general rule, our clients submit their medical research manuscripts as electronic files, usually Microsoft Word documents (though we can work with other formats such as LaTeX files as well). We provide our medical proofreading services by making changes and adding marginal comments directly to each client’s electronic document. We then return two edited versions of the original file to the author:

  • A clean version that incorporates the medical editor’s changes into the text.
  • A tracked version that shows all the changes made during the medical editing process and offers the author final control over the text with the ability to reject or accept any one or all of those changes.
